Altrex span towers are manufactured from an especially high-grade aluminium alloy. They are built for very intensive use and have a long working life. The braces have an automatic clamp fastening and can be assembled without tools.
The aluminium span towers are supplied with locking pins. All required locking pins are fixed to the frame before shipment.
The span towers comply with the European standard EN 1004 and are GS certified. Components can be exchanged between scaffolds of different series.
Two series of span towers can be supplied:
Series 5100 with a narrower working platform and
Series 5200 with a wider working platform.
In addition there are two different systems of folding scaffolds (series 5400 and 4400).
The basic structure of the aluminium span towers is consisting of 4 components: castors, frames, braces, and platforms.
The frame tubes are directly welded to each other, this provides greater strength than alternative constructions. Assembly instructions are clearly printed in the frames. The larger tube diameter, 50.8 mm, improves the stability and stiffness of the frame. The scaffold frames are tested to a load of 750 kg.
The braces are lightweight, yet strong and stable. The brace hooks are self-cleaning and engage around 2/3 of the frame rungs for increased convenience and safety.
These castors, diameter 200 mm, are among the largest in the industry. Their large diameter makes the tower easy to move. The castors feature a unique lock with two pedals. Simply press one of the pedals to lock or unlock the castor.
The platforms feature solid hooks and can be positioned by one person. The rungs under the platform and the I-sections ledgers provide great stability. The top is of plywood (9 plies) with a non-slip finish. The platform trapdoors are marked with stickers so they are clearly recognizable. The trapdoors close automatically, are fitted with anti-dirt spring hinges and are secured against wind uplift. The asymmetrical hooks make it easy to link platforms lengthwise and widthwise.
